The Edinburgh Medics Run Club welcome you to join them in their salute to Terry Fox, and his epic journey 44 years ago he named the Marathon of Hope. Dedicated to raising money for cancer research after he lost his leg to cancer, Terry Fox achieved the impossible by running 3,339 miles over 143 days, averaging a marathon a day on a prosthetic leg. Sadly, he had to stop before he finished his cross-Canada trek as the cancer returned to his lungs, and he passed away less than a year later.
